The single biggest exercise done in Pune city was rainwater harvesting campaign in Baner and Pashan area. Out of about 60 building complexes installed rainwater harvesting mechanism under advice from experts and volunteers of Bhujal Abhiyan, setting up a big example.

Besides, Vasundhara Swachhata Abhiyan (VSA) an associate NGO, did an exemplary job on nearby hills of Baner Pashan area of watershed development. Trenches were dug, trees were planted and watered and small pools were created. This resulted in recharging of groundwater on large scale. The entire area is an aquifer zone.

The results were as sweet as the exercise. The dependence of housing societies on water tankers reduced to a great extent. The bore wells started yielded water almost round the year as against shortage in summer.
